Story of Salmanazar
It was the year 1979, when we get our first dog. He was Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, called Ali. Ali was little girl’s dream which came true. Our family had 10 good years with Ali. He was mom’s tireless walking friend, dad’s fishing friend and young girls’ “secret keeper”. After 5 hard years with heart disease, we had to make last favour/duty for Ali and let him go. We miss you, little friend.
After Ali we had a place open for a dog. We all remember that living without dog was so empty and yes, we start looking for a new familymember stright a way. Can’t really remember how we find the saluki breed, but Kirsi collected saluki pictures. Also when Kirsi was little baby mom and dad watched every day at the window an promenading afghanhound. They admired dog’s proud, movements and lovely hair. Our mom had only two expectations for newcomer, a dog has/had to have long legs and pretty short hair. That time we lived in countryside and ways were quite dirty and mom has tired to clean Ali’s white hairy stomach and short legs.
Suddenly, only a month later, we find new Saluki litter quite near in Ikaalinen at Nordwart kennel. There was born ten little saluki puppies. So we went to see two weeks old puppies and surprisingly had our first saluki Nordwart Shazbot and the year was 1990. And as all sighthound families, it happened also to us, the second saluki puppy came to our family 1991 and third in 1994. They were Nordwart Ebnucammil and Nordwart Tanui. With these three boys our family became familiar with sighthound racing, dog shows and lure coursing. Parents has been racing judges for awhile and girls are just grown up with these hobbies.
Tazi, Kami and Tanu lived long lives. Our veterans moved to the rainbow bridge at the ages Tazi 13, Kami 14 and Tanu 11. There is no words to say how much we miss them.
New Generation
Now we have new generation to growing. Oldest of the sisters moved to the own house and she has to emmediately has also own saluki. Shafaq Oliwer Ozmond came from Sweden and soon couple of years later Oliwer got the friend from Brasil, Stenara Afarim-Ahrkad.
Little sister has also completed her studies and new home. So there was also place for a dog. Italian greyhound Pumpkin Houplos a.k.a Vilu with lovely temperament came to our family at 2005. He got soon company about Italian greyhound Nälkä, Tarumetsän Sydänyön Ritari.
Parents took little red princes Shafaq Sterling Red Queen, for relieving sorrow about the oldest gentleman Tazi. Soon they had to give up also Tanu and Kami. It takes little time when they find likeable companion for red princes, and then Nura flight to Finland from Norway. Her whole name is Biscotti Razali Nura Salmanazar. Early spring 2009, long waited and dearly wished dream come true. Newcomer Saree landed in Finland from Netherlands. Saree's full name is Samoems Saree. Future will show up what is coming next…
About Activities
Couple of years ago sisters decided to school themselves for racing staff. They have worked in races from 90’s but now it was time to have new people so that wonderful hobby racing will have continuity. First for officials and then they noticed that their mom has stand ten years in the curve of race track as judge in all our local sighthound clubs races. So it was time to get new judges and girls has completed practical trainings at summer 2008 and now they have licenses for judging in race track.
Beginning of the year 2009 girls take a part to the schooling of dog show stewards. Both get very well results of exam and hopefully end of 2009 they have steward licenses after practical trainings.
There has been a slight dream to breed salukis all the time from the time when Tazi came and show how wonderful breed saluki is. At year 2006 girls and mom decided to get own kennel prefix and completed their course of dog breeding. At spring 2007 we had an announcement from FCI that our prefix Salmanazar has approved for us.
We wonder that sometime we will breed beautiful, healthy and lovely saluki companions.
